FAQ

WHAT TYPES OF WOOD DO YOU HAVE AVAILABLE?

There are several types of wood that we have readily available. We regularly stock ash, birch, mahogany, maple, cherry, heart pine and white pine, oak and walnut. We also have several types of reclaimed wood stocked or can stock it very quickly - reclaimed red and white oak, reclaimed hemlock, reclaimed heart pine, reclaimed fir and sometimes even reclaimed chestnut!  However, we are happy to build your one-of-a-kind piece in whatever wood that you would like, even if it’s rare and will take some searching!

WHERE DO YOU SOURCE YOUR WOOD?

All of our wood comes from vendors in New England. We have been working closely with our reclaimed wood vendor so that we can supply multiple types of reclaimed wood and know exactly where he’s sourcing that wood from, whether it’s a farm in Kentucky or a barn in Upstate New York.

WHAT’S SO SPECIAL ABOUT RECLAIMED WOOD?

Reclaimed wood made its appearance in the design world several years ago and has been selling strong ever since. There are several facets to this wood that make it special. First, it has history. Where does it come from? What function did it serve before? Sometimes we get reclaimed wood that was a barn for a few hundred years - and then it is re-purposed and given a new life as a bed or table or island.  Having a little piece of another time in your house is super special and is a great conversation piece. Second, it is super durable. Reclaimed wood has stood the test of time, and trees used to be farmed differently than how they are now. Back in the day, trees grew over many, many years and formed tight rings. Slow growth made this wood denser, stronger and tighter. Nowadays, new wood is farmed as quickly as possible so it’s actually not as strong and the ring patterns are different. Third, it’s sustainable. Using reclaimed wood isn’t just about the industrial style which is really popular right now - it’s about recycling and re-purposing wood that has stood the test of time and is often otherwise abandoned.

WHAT CAN YOU BUILD?

The real question is, what can’t we build? We do finish carpentry, so we’ll take on any interior project, large or small. We build whole kitchens and just kitchen islands. We build dining tables, chairs, benches, stools and coffee tables. Lately we have been doing some bedroom furniture and we’ve really enjoyed working with our customers to build furniture that they love! We’ll even do other sorts of projects like mud rooms and entertainment centers.

SO CAN I SEND YOU A PICTURE OF SOMETHING I LIKE?

Of course! Whether it’s something off of Pinterest or Instagram or a product that you love but that is actually just wooden veneer covering plywood, we can design and build it to your specifications!

CAN YOU MATCH A COLOR I WANT?

Yes! If you already know the brand and name of the stain you’d like, please let us know. Otherwise please bring in a sample of the color that you want so that we can find the closest match possible.
